# Link WABA Account

> Connect your WhatsApp Business Account to Modawer

## Overview

Link a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) when you want to send messages from
your own WhatsApp sender instead of Modawer's official WhatsApp account.

## Before you start

Prepare these items before opening the portal:

| Item             | Description                                                                                                            |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Facebook account | Use an active Facebook account that can manage the business. The account should be registered for more than one month. |
| Phone number     | The number must be able to receive an SMS or voice verification code.                                                  |
| Display name     | The WhatsApp business display name customers will see. It should match your brand.                                     |
| Company details  | Company name, address, business registration document, official HTTPS website, and business email.                     |

  Do not use a phone number that is already active on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp
  Business app unless you are ready to migrate or remove it from that app.

  If your number is already registered as a WhatsApp API number with another
  provider, use <a href="/setup/number-migration">Number Migration</a> instead
  of adding it as a new number. If the phone number is currently used in the
  WhatsApp app or WhatsApp Business app, remove the account from that app before
  linking the number to Modawer.

## Link from the portal

1. Open the [Modawer Portal](https://portal.modawer.com/).
2. Go to your app or workspace settings.
3. Open the WhatsApp account connection flow.
4. Sign in with the Facebook account that can manage the business.
5. Create or select a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
6. Add your WhatsApp business display name and business category.
7. Add the phone number you want to use as the sender.
8. Verify the phone number with the SMS or voice code.
9. Finish the setup and return to Modawer.

After linking, use the portal API Playground and select
<b>Send WhatsApp Template</b> to get the correct raw payload and
`template.components` for your templates.

## Verification rules

| Message type         | Business verification requirement                                                       |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| OTP / authentication | Requires a verified WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) when sending from your own sender. |
| Utility              | Can be sent from a linked WhatsApp account without completing business verification.    |
| Marketing            | Can be sent from a linked WhatsApp account without completing business verification.    |
